Don’t tell me “it wasn’t meant to be” by William Whitecloud
Holy Cow, here we are at the end of another year! When I reflect on the last year there are so many powerful memories that flood my consciousness. Yet, in terms of what stands out in my mind as important to pass on to others, I can’t go past how far the Magician’s Way has come. I remember a year ago we had to cancel the first workshop we promoted because we couldn’t get ten paying participants, and the book was hardly selling in bookstores. A year later and the Invitation To Awaken weekend is attracting eighty or more participants in cities all over the country, The Magician’s Way eight day training in December is booked out with seventy participants and still more people on the waiting list, and bookings for the year long teacher accreditation training next year suggest it, too, will be sold out. As for the book, it’s been Banyan Tree Book Distributors’ number one best selling book for six months in a row, making it the number one best selling book in metaphysical and alternative bookstores across Australia.
And the big lesson in this for me is that just because something doesn’t happen straight off doesn’t mean that “it wasn’t meant to be”. That is the lamest phrase you could ever use, and, if you mean to be a powerful creator in life, one you should stop using as a crutch. The only true measure of whether something is meant to be is whether you would love it to be, and that isn’t determined by whether it happens or not. Mastery in creating comes from the ability to know the truth of your heart.
For my business partner, Darren Eden, and I, the most important aspect of our work is to make sure that we are in our hearts. Our experience has taught us that the same part of you that can tell you what you truly want will also show you how to get it. Our experience is also that when something is true and it is not happening, turning things around only takes a simple change in perspective.
Over the last year Darren and I frequently held our strategy meetings down at the waterfall on my property, where the natural setting helped to amplify our vision of what we would love to create. When we put our poor results aside, we always came back to the same thing: we both dreamed of enabling people to live magical lives by realizing the magic in them selves. That didn’t change, so we knew that we just hadn’t found the path to that result yet. We only had to trust that if we remained committed to our vision the path would reveal itself.
Shortly after we had to cancel the original workshop in Sydney, we went down to the waterfall to tune into what was going on. The big insight that impressed itself on our intuition was that we were in denial of the fact that we were New Age. Our marketing advisors had enrolled us in their beliefs that we had to appeal to the material success demographic, when the truth is our philosophy and work is about the heart. We’re about teaching people to follow their inner truth and having that lead them to their treasure, whatever that might mean for them personally.
Down at the waterfall, with the sound of rushing water and a canopy of rainforest trees shielding us from external influences, our truth was clear to us. It was blindingly obvious that we had allowed ourselves to be seduced down the wrong path, and although it was scary for two boys with corporate backgrounds, Darren and I chose to get back on the track that was true for us. From there we entered into an alliance with Living NOW magazine that introduced us to a vast audience of like minded souls, and it was also Living NOW that arranged the marriage between myself and Banyan Tree. We’ve never looked back. Now people are offering to promote the work all over the world and I’ve had offers to translate The Magician’s Way into Greek, Spanish, German and Dutch.
The ultimate joy of creating is obviously ending up with what truly matters to you, rather than what your circumstances seemingly dictate. But the process is also a wonderful thing to be involved in, and more amazing to master than any other skill you would need or want in life. Creating is a dynamic sport, except the element you’re working with is not wind or snow or rock, it’s a living, intelligent force – your own creative spirit. When you’re in touch with it, there’s no such thing as “it wasn’t meant to be”.
