Melbourne, New York and Beyond…
Today I think of myself as the luckiest woman in the world and I must thank William Whitecloud and his work for helping me achieve this perspective. William has not helped me by telling me about the power of positive thinking, like the type of teachings you get from a motivational speaker. William did not go deep into my childhood to resolve deep-seated wounds, like you'd expect from a psychologist. I have actually never worked one on one with William, yet his work has empowered me to achieve remarkable results. William's work, through his book "The Magicians Way" (my first introduction to this work) and after attending two Invitation to Awaken weekends, has opened the door to endless love, success and happiness.
I am an actress and like most actors have high self-esteem and confidence in my daily life, yet up until recently I was not a successful actress. I have had periods of constant work in my acting career, but these bursts would only be short lived. After a few months of acting work I'd be back at my retail job, miserable and feeling hard done by because "directors did not see my talent". The truth was that the only thing getting in the way of my success was me! I had this realization during William’s first weekend workshop, and it was the key to turning things around.
After attending the first workshop with William, I was inspired about changing my life and empowered by the belief that I am in fact a magician and that I can impact the world around me. I cannot begin to go into detail about what William teaches, as I do not have enough room in this article, but I can tell you about the outcomes.
After the first weekend I was confident that I could turn my life around and create anything that I wanted. A few shifts started to happen for me. I was offered a full time job with "The Lion King", as the drama coach for young Nala and Simba. At first I jumped at taking this job, but something inside me didn't feel right about it. I had focused so hard on getting this job, and put all of William's work into place so that I'd be successful. However, it was only when I did get the job that I realized the power of William’s work and that maybe I had not used it with the integrity it required. This integrity that I am talking about is having the ability to serve your heart’s path and not your everyday desires. So I did not accept the job with The Lion King and I was back to the drawing board. I wanted to be able to follow my heart's path and thus I returned to William's weekend workshop for a second go. This was where the real magic began.
In the first workshop I was able to get in touch with what was blocking my goals, but in the second workshop I was able to own my blockages and move beyond. A huge shift occurred for me and I discovered my true potential and its relationship with my acting career. I learned that I was here to do great things through my acting and I had to stop putting my career in the ‘too hard basket’ and start breathing life into it. I chose to breathe life into my acting career and I walked out of that workshop a new woman.
In less than three months since attending that second workshop and after two years of not getting any acting work, I can now call myself a successful actress. I was given a lead role in three episodes of a new TV drama, I was given a lead role in the 2006 Melbourne theatre production of "The Vagina Monologues", I received a one day acting job paying $3500 and I am in discussions with a director and producer about my first lead role in a new Australian feature film. But the buck does not stop here. After five years of dreaming about going to New York to study acting, I sent an application to the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, NYC.
In my application to New York I wrote a letter to the board of directors, explaining that my decision to apply to their school was because I had to follow my heart and for that reason they could not say no to me. Ten days after sending my application I received a letter of acceptance into the Lee Strasberg Institute. Obviously I was ecstatic as this school is one of the hardest schools in the world to get into, training actors like Robert DeNiro, Marlan Brando and Uma Thurman, just to name a few.
Now you can understand why I think I’m the luckiest woman in the world. I am confident that my time in New York will lead me to amazing opportunities and meetings with other fellow magicians. However, before I complete this article, I must remind you that the pathway to becoming a magician is a daily practice and like any success story, you only get out what you put in. William’s work opened the door to this type of success, but it was by practicing this work for an hour every day that brought me success.
When Bridget applied to the Lee Strasberg Institute she was hoping to be accepted into a twelve week course. So impressed were the directors with her application that they invited her to study at the school for three years!
