A Spark of the Heart by Steve Davies

“A spark of the heart”… that has now grown to become a flame of freedom. I wrote this down after attending The Magicians Way eight-day training in Byron Bay, and how true this statement has become in my life. I wish to go back in time just a bit to recap my life prior to and after the training. Having spent many years enjoying a musical career that took me all around Australia, America, Canada and Germany, touring with successful band Harper, I found myself materially and financially abundant. Still there was something missing; there was an emptiness inside me, as a result I chose to leave this life and re-ignite my career in hairdressing.

I opened my own business in my home town of Belgrave in Melbourne. It was April 2004 and life was moving along nicely, I was in charge of my future. Just over one year later, I read an article in Living NOW magazine called “Magicians Way, Invitation to Awaken”. Curious as I was and a fan of Merlin, magic and alchemy, I had never really understood the whole turning-lead-into-gold thing, and this weekend was all about just that! So off I went with my partner Libby to this event to learn magic, let me tell you I was a bit skeptical but buried deep inside me was a faint voice that kept saying: “Go!” I found myself sitting in a chair at the Crest on Barkley in St Kilda in August of 2005, listening to William Whitecloud talk about the seven secrets of magic and then grouping off in groups of four doing victim/creator circles, sharing insights with other people, that I found very accurate for myself and for them as well. Wow it was scary and exciting all at the same time.

Before I knew it three days had passed; it was as if time had been suspended, and the air was electric. Next thing I knew I was in line signing up for an eight-day event, and I paid my deposit knowing that’s where I was going: off to Byron Bay. There was no fear as to where the rest of the money would come from; I just moved in that direction. No more than two days had passed when I was sitting in my salon and a flash of inspiration consumed me. An idea to create haircutting workshops for hairdressers, using the new cutting tool I’d developed, which was made up of a pair of clippers and a new cutting blade that could be attached to create all kinds of hairstyles, without using scissors. Magic. The idea felt silly at first but as I learned in the training, I decided to go with it. (When I sat in my creator circle, it was affirmed.) I sent out 100 flyers to salons around Melbourne and within five days I had 10 bookings and enough money to pay for the eight-day training. It was there that the premises of Magician’s Way were embedded deeply into my awareness. A spark had been ignited in my heart. I suddenly had a living, breathing relationship with my soul that produced clarity, lightness and a focus that I had previously lacked. Returning to Melbourne, this feeling stayed with me, it was coursing through me like rays of light, my body tingling and alive; my mind focused and direct; my heart peaceful and quiet.

My work and workshops were still moving but with a different intent, which was to serve and share my truth within the hairdressing industry. So now those that I teach learn to let go of their preconceived ideas about cutting hair and to focus on the end-result they want to achieve and to let their innate creativity flow through them and relax into what I call “hair sculpture”. The results are simply amazing. All of this has taken only four months to achieve. As I speak right now I am closing a deal with a hairdressing franchise that has 1,500 salons around Australia that want this training over the next 12 months. An emerging future has arisen out of intention and focus. It is as if this is a living energy of its own that I have tapped into, the larger picture of what I first envisioned. My personal vision merged with this larger reality and became one. When we serve a larger vision all things become possible and the personal steps along the way need not be grand in nature but the ripples they send out into the ocean of life go on to reach beyond what is considered possible and create miracles. My next adventure: the year-long training... I would like to finish off with an email I sent on 11th Feb 2006.....

“It is with my utmost intention and attention to the truth, my truth and our collective truth to gather together words to describe the impact that the Magician’s Way training has had on my psyche… It is one of integrity, openness and love, more and more each moment as I put into practice the premises of the training I realize and recognize the magic that is within every opportunity for us to become who we truly are, walking, living, breathing, manifesting Gods. No longer are we stuck on a merry-go-round repetitive life, but propelled to a new level that is spiraling in all directions, all at once, all in the one. It is with my deepest gratitude that I choose to thank William, Darren and their team at Magician’s Way, all those I have shared with at all the workshops and myself for co-creating this, the beginning of my new life. We do not know what will happen but are simply delighted at what we are creating. That truly to me is freedom: living without fear, living without the need for anything outside of myself except to experience all things and ultimate abundance as the divine creative energy that I also am part of living through heart space....”
