Welcome Fellow Magician The Magicians Way by William Whitecloud

The Vision is Everything by William Whitecloud

Here I am, sitting at my computer, more excited than Big Kev! I’m like a man on fire, I tell you. And the reason for my high state of exhilaration? Why, I’m reading Shantaram, the epic masterpiece by Gregory David Roberts.

In one of his immortal ballads, Bob Dylan sings, “And every one of them words rang true and glowed like burning coals, pouring off of every page like it was written in my soul for me to use.” That’s the kind of spiritual transfer I’m receiving from Shantaram. To call Mr. Roberts a writer is like calling the Pope a priest. This guy is a master, a sage - though he would most probably deny it. He uses the English language like Jimi Hendrix used an electric guitar. I reckon that he has Shakespeare and Blake and Rumi and Buddha all working overtime in heaven coming up with the most exquisitely profound blend of words and insights to channel through his pen.

Here’s a paragraph I’ve just read: “Most of us – me and you, my brother – we wait for the future to come to us. But [he] dreams the future, and then he plans it, and then he makes it happen. That is the difference between him and the rest of us.”

As a practicing creator, those words are music to my ears. Indeed, how many of us dream the future and bring it in to existence, as opposed to those of us who merely prepare our selves as best we can for a future that will land on our heads? How many of us are even prepared to ask the question, or consider that there is even a choice?

After my last article – The Heart of Personal Power – was published in Living NOW, I received a surprising number of letters exhorting me to realize the fallacy of my assertion that we are all Gods. Christians chastised me for my Satanic impudence, while New Age purists cautioned me that such talk was dangerously egotistical and, as such, could only lead to conflict with the will of the Universe.

Actually, I respect these points of view, and I am aware of the danger of my statements, were they to come from my head rather than my heart. But here’s the thing. A friend of mine – let’s call her Jane – has this pattern of being ripped off and then abandoned by men. It started when she was a little girl. Her father was always leaving the family in the lurch, and then, when they’d just pulled themselves together, he’d arrive back on their doorstep - and then he’d disappear again after taking all the love and money they had to give. Now all her adult life, Jane has had a consistent experience of being used in exactly the same way by opportunistic male scoundrels.

Amazingly, Jane doesn’t see the pattern. She just believes that that is how life is and how men are. Even more amazingly, every one I know and the thousands of clients I have ever worked with all create an equally predictable and narrow experience of life. In What the bleep do we know, the popular “science mystic” movie currently screening nationwide, one of the scientists questions why it is that, out of an infinite variable of possibilities in the universe, our lives are limited to creating such a narrow range of experience.

There are two things about life patterns that fascinate me. Firstly, just how strong they are, and secondly, how effortlessly we manifest them. A woman I once counseled had a father who died of blood poisoning when she was a little girl. She then married two men and lived with a third – all of them healthy, vital souls to begin with – all of whom ended up dying of rare blood diseases. Incredibly, while this woman recognized that every man she had ever loved had died not long after she came in to their lives, it took me to point out that every illness they suffered from was a blood related condition.

We live out our patterns largely unaware of their full extent. We put no conscious effort into making them happen. In fact, we couldn’t manifest them if we tried. How could someone intentionally go about finding apparently healthy men that were all on the verge of succumbing to a very specific type of illness, and then succeed in getting those men to marry or live with them?

Never mind that our patterns are not as obvious or extreme as the above example, we still have them. And as I said, we manifest them without even thinking about them, or even being aware that they exist. Even as we sleep we are pulling strings in high places to make sure the universe gives us an experience of life consistent with our expectations. We are awesome creators. Whether we are aware of it or not, whether we believe it or not, whether we like it or not, we are creating every moment of our lives.

Nothing outside of us is responsible for what we create, and no one can tell me that this is not a God-like quality. I am told that the word Human derives from Hu, which means king or God, and Manus, which means mind or consciousness. So we are Beings with God-like consciousness. The ancients who named our race seem to have known a thing or two.

Our subconscious nature is purely creative. We can’t help it. The only thing we have control over is whether we create the past or whether we create our dreams. For most people this is a massive realization, one that causes quite a bit of consternation. When people I am working with see their pattern they are absolutely predictable in their response. In a voice laden with bewilderment they ask me: “So how can I change it? What can I do to create my true potential instead?” My answer is most probably even more disconcerting: “Learn how to dream again.”

Doing things always gives us a sense of control in a situation, but that is all it gives us. Doing doesn’t change much, if the truth be known. Our patterns roll out relentlessly, in spite of our best schemes and intentions. The point I emphasize to my clients is that they didn’t have to do anything to create their pattern. They didn’t have to go to workshops or be given a mantra or learn how the universe works. Your creative nature is fully formed and functioning, it requires absolutely no development.

The only thing you need to be aware of if you want to transform your experience of life is that your subconscious self is always creating, and that it creates whatever it has a vision of. If you give it a dream, if you show it a vision of the future, it will create that. And if you fail to use your will and envision the future of your choice, all it has to go on are your unconscious visions of the past. Left rudderless, your subconscious drifts back to your first experiences of life. In a sense, it is guided by your memories, and it does an excellent job of reproducing them in the present day.

Once a delegation of Cardinals was sent by the Pope to speak to Michelangelo about why he was taking so long painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Chief among the pontiff’s concerns was the fact that the great painter was known to sleep for hours on the job. Michelangelo answered the legation: “Yes, but when I sleep I pick up the vibration of what I am painting, and what I paint is the exact replica of the vibration I see in my sleep.” Michelangelo’s most important work happened when he was asleep. He dreamed his paintings into existence. You don’t have to go past him to learn all there is to know about creating.

There is a part of you that can make things happen in a way that is way beyond anyone’s understanding. In fact, the more we try to understand, the more we separate ourselves from our creative aspect. As another scientist in What the bleep said, “Don’t be in the know, be in the mystery.” Our job as conscious creators is to dream, and dreaming leads us beyond merely having a great experience of life, it reconnects us with our divinity. I know this from personal experience.

Back in the eighties I had a drug habit that cost me the equivalent of a house in a good suburb every year. I was diagnosed with, and was suffering from, a so-called incurable and fatal illness. My first marriage was in ruins and my relationships were bitter and hollow. I went to bed with weapons under my pillow that were designed to protect me from my alleged friends. My every action contributed to the misery of myself and others. I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice it to say my life was bleak.

Fast-forward to today and you find a totally different picture. I am healed in every sense of the word. I am cured of the illness that was killing me, and I am sustained now by the play between life and my own creativity. I am married to my soul mate, and blessed with two angels that bring me more joy than I can even bear. I belong to the most loving, creative and supportive community in the world. What I involve myself with now contributes to the upliftment of thousands of people. There is no person in the world richer than me.

How did I do it? I honestly don’t know. It’s like when I wrote The Magician’s Way, I didn’t have a clue how to go about it. The only thing I knew how to do was keep imagining what I wanted as an end result, and somehow a book many reviewers are comparing to the most empowering books ever written flowed out of me. And so it was with my life. At some point I began picking up the vibration of how great it could be, and now my life is an exact replica of that vibration.

My promise to you is that it is God’s will that you escape your karma, that you free your self of the past and begin creating your heart. And the beauty of it is that to do so you must claim your God-like consciousness; you must let go of the struggle and learn to dream again. The irony is that if you dare to do so, you must prepare yourself for a life you could never even dream of.
