A Written Guidance Exersice by Darren Eden
The creative tool I’ll be teaching you this month is called Written Guidance.
Written Guidance is a very intimate and profound way of using your intuition to receive wisdom from your higher self. It is literally your own conversation with God. Of all the intuitive techniques that William and I teach and use, Written Guidance is by far my favorite. It is very direct and very powerful.
Written Guidance is a guided visualization process where you are led to a temple in which you meet a Spirit Guide. Your Spirit Guide is a symbolic representation of your Higher Self. Once there you can ask any question you choose and then you write down whatever you receive.
There are only two things you need to create a very powerful Written Guidance experience and they are a clear intention and your imagination.
The intention you have going into a Written Guidance session is very important. Obviously you can ask any question you like of your Spirit Guide, but it’s more powerful and profound if you ask a question that’s aligned with your purpose and highest truth. Imagine if you had a ten-minute audience with the Dalai Lama or any other spiritual master, what question would you ask them?
Personally I’ve used Written Guidance whenever I’ve had a major decision to make or when I get really serious about creating something close to my heart, like my soul mate. When I committed myself to creating her I used Written Guidance repeatedly to connect with her heart and literally within a couple of months Joanna and I got together and not long after that we were engaged to be married. I have had similar experiences with many other creations as well. Written Guidance truly is a magical process.
One last thing to mention before I take you through the process is that your Spirit Guide can take any form it chooses. Your guide may well take the form of a spiritual master, but it’s just as likely to take the form of a frog or anything else. One time during a workshop one of my participants had a chicken come to them and received profound insights. To my dismay though, he didn’t ask the chicken the eternal question –“Why did it cross the road?” Another participant was an engineer; his spirit guide took the form of a drop saw. He was delighted because he always wanted a drop saw. He has since used Written Guidance to create a number of new inventions. Let your imagination take you wherever it wants to go.
So without any further ado, here’s the process: Have a pen and paper handy and give yourself about half an hour and a quiet space in which to work.
Close your eyes and imagine that you’re in a beautiful forest and become aware of whatever you can see, hear and feel, smell and touch. Begin to walk through the forest and as you do imagine you come across a path. Walk along the path.
After a while, imagine you reach a fork in the path. Take the left path. As you walk along this path the forest will start to clear and open up into a field of violet flowers. Now there is nothing around you but violet flowers. Allow yourself to wonder aimlessly through the violet flowers.
Finally in the distance you see a temple. You are drawn towards the temple. You walk up the stairs and through the doors. Once inside, experience the profound spiritual space that surrounds you. Walk towards the alter of the temple and there waiting for you is your Spirit Guide (taking whatever form it chooses.)
Imagine embracing your Spirit Guide. Get a sense of the ancient connection between you. Know they have come to you in love and service. Then ask your question and open your heart to everything your Spirit Guide has to say. IMAGINE them starting to talk, giving you guidance. And then begin to write down whatever you imagine they are telling you. Write down everything you’re receiving.
Keep going. The more you write the more wisdom will come through you from your Spirit Guide. Stop once you feel complete. Take the time to share what you wrote with someone you love. It’s a wonderful way to assimilate what you’ve received. Also, it’s a good thing to keep your guidance and read it back to yourself at a later date. It will amaze you how accurate it is, and will give you a lot of confidence in your own intuition.
